Low-chroma bases across the large surfaces, with whatever character the space needs carried by a small number of accents and by material rather than by hue. The most common mistake is treating an office like a reception — visitors see it for two minutes and staff see it for years.

Keep walls in the reflective mid-to-light band so the room does not need excessive artificial light, and avoid high-gloss on any large surface facing a window: glare on a screen is a bigger complaint than any colour.
