Skin undertone
Undertone identification is genuinely subjective, and “uncertain” is a valid, common outcome — not a failure to look hard enough. The common vein-colour and jewellery tests are folk methods, not validated diagnostics.
Warm undertone
Often described as tanning easily, appearing golden or olive in some lights, and looking comfortable beside warm neutrals like cream, camel and gold.
Cool undertone
Often described as burning more easily in sun, appearing pink or rosy in some lights, and looking comfortable beside cool neutrals like white, grey and silver.
Neutral undertone
Often described as looking comfortable in both warm and cool colours, without one direction reading as a clearly better match.
Olive undertone
Often described as looking slightly muted or golden-green rather than clearly pink or clearly yellow, and sometimes described as not fitting neatly into a warm/cool split at all.
Uncertain or mixed undertone
Many people find undertone genuinely hard to pin down, especially without controlled lighting, and that uncertainty is not a failure to look hard enough — it reflects real ambiguity in a subjective judgement.
