Contrast level describes the visible relationship between hair, eyes and skin — never a ranking, and genuinely variable within any broad group.
Low contrast
Features read as blended and harmonious rather than sharply defined against each other — for example, fair hair with fair skin, or deep hair with deep skin.
Medium contrast
Features are individually distinct without one dramatically dominating the others.
High contrast
Features read as distinct and graphic against each other, often described as striking.
Mixed contrast
Doesn't reduce cleanly to one single contrast level — genuinely common, and treated here as its own category rather than forced into low/medium/high.
